Glue up details
We offer a standard range of finishes and details as part of our glue up manufacture, which are detailed below. We can also do custom detailing for a small additional fee – let us know if you’re looking for specific detailing on your piece.
Filling and finishing
We fill any small holes, gaps or natural cracking in the timber with a safe tinted beeswax filler. Not only does it look great, but it means our glue ups are safely able to be recycled in the future. We finish our glue ups with Livos oils, either their Universal Wood Oil or Countertop Oil, depending on if the surface is going to be in possible contact with food or food preparation. Filling and finishing of your glue up comes as part of the glue up cost, and we offer a small discount if you’d prefer to fill and/or finish your benchtop yourself.
Corner rounding
We offer a standard set of corner rounds in the glue up price, from a hard square corner to a 50mm round. You can specify different rounds for different corners, such as only the front corners of a shelf or bench, or every corner a different size just because you can!
Edge rounding
All the below edge rounding options are included in the standard glue up price.
While it’s a small detail, the edge detailing on a bench or tabletop can make a big difference to how it feels in your home. We offer a range of rounded or hard edge detailing as standard in our glue up price. Visit us in store to get hands on with our sample blocks and see what you like the feel of most!
Joined benches, cuts and cutouts
We offer a range of other options for your glue up to suit your home’s needs.
Cut-outs (such as to suit a sink or stove): $50 each
Cut-outs, with the cut-out piece turned into a bespoke chopping board: $75 each
Joint between two bench tops (ie. a mitre joint or butt joint with joining hardware included): $50 each
Custom corners, edges, or other detailing
