Insect Hotel Building Workshop
Beginner woodwork
Insects play an important role in our urban lives, from pollinating our herb gardens to controlling unwanted pests. In this course, you’ll learn how to build a durable, sustainable insect habitat to support all kinds of beneficial insects in your neighbourhood.
While you build, you’ll learn about the fascinating world of native insects and their importance in maintaining a healthy ecosystem. We’ll cover some local species, why you might want them in the garden, and how to attract and support them.
You’ll also gain practical carpentry skills as you construct your insect habitat using reclaimed timber and items found in your own garden. We’ll provide some tips on how to install and maintain your insect habitat to ensure longevity and effectiveness.
Whether you are a seasoned gardener looking to enhance biodiversity in your garden or a DIY woodworker interested in building something that supports local wildlife, this course will equip you with the knowledge and skills to create a welcoming home for beneficial insects.
