We’re open!

Our new Sydney Blue Gum seedling (Eucalyptus saligna)

Can you believe it, Among The Trees’ shop is now open for business. We know you’ve been getting glimpses of the shop and workshop over the past months through our social media (and in real life, for anyone who’s made it to a course), but you can now come in and visit us in person.

Thank you to everyone who came out and made our grand opening last Saturday a huge success. We celebrated with old friends and made some new ones, sizzled some sausages, showed people around the building and talked a whole lot about wood. The highlight of the day was the planting of a beautiful blue gum seedling - it’s small now, but we’re excited to watch it grow in the coming years just as we continue to grow too.

Thanks to Paul Davies for the photos below! They give you a sense of the shop and workshop, but we’re sorry to say that one thing they don’t give you is the smell - the shop smells good! While our machining room is behind closed, sound-proof doors, there are subtle notes of eucalypts, pines, and more wafting their way through the space. It really has to be smelled to be believed!

We’re thrilled to be sharing these secrets of reuse with everyone who’ll listen. We’re starting small, but are excited to show the world just what reclaimed timber is capable of and to keep growing from here.

We’ll see you in the shop!

– the Among The Trees team
