Hours: 3-4 days (24-32 hours), must be available Wednesday-Saturday
Pay rate: Timber award level 4 ($24.87 p/h)

Position Overview
Among The Trees is seeking someone to join our small but passionate team as a Reclaimed Timber Shop Assistant.
In this role you will be responsible for managing shop stock, providing outstanding customer service, and processing orders in an efficient, accurate and friendly manner.
The role includes a small amount of marketing work, with the possibility of expanding the workload depending on interest, demand and capability.
Experience in the timber industry is necessary and a basic level of timber knowledge is required. On-the-job machining training is included with the expectation to do light machining as required, mainly for on-the-spot shop customers, for example, cutting a piece to size or so it fits into a car.
This role is for 3-4 days / 24-32 hours per week, and includes a 6 month probation period.
Physical requirement - being on your feet all day, lifting heavy timber, processing timber. Indoor work. Steel cap boots required, casual clothing (will get dusty/dirty)
Main activities
Shop Floor
customer service, using POS hardware (square) for transactions and taking orders, answering shop-phone, restocking shelves, pricing stock, stocktake, cleaning, sorting of hardware/tools
Opening and closing procedures (need to be available from 8am-4pm)
Content creation for marketing
Taking photos and videos of timber and products
Drafting text for social media posts and advertising campaigns
Overseeing the shop and build marketing calendar (scheduling posts)
Creating marketing content and shop signage such as labels, flyers, promotional banners/posters and other graphic design layouts in Canva
Basic machining of timber for customers, for example: drop cut, rip cut, jointing and thicknessing. Training will be provided, however experience with basic power tools is highly desired
Other administrative tasks as assigned by the General Manager
Selection criteria
Essential:
Knowledge of timber and/or woodwork
Some customer/retail experience
a professional and friendly phone manner
Ability to work in a small and dedicated team
An interest in or passion for sustainability
Desirable:
Experience working with online platforms such as Asana, Canva, Jotform, Xero, Squarespace, Square, or similar platforms
Familiarity with stock ordering and receiving processes to ensure seamless operations
Comfortable navigating POS software
Experience with power tools and woodworking machinery
Senior first aid certificate
